MARCIA SLAUSON ZEHL

1928-2021

Marcia Slauson Zehl, who was born on April 28, 1928 in her beloved childhood hometown of Glenbrook, Connecticut, left this Earth and ascended into Heaven on October 5, 2021. As a resident of Houston, Texas since 1964, Marcia enjoyed teaching English, History, and Social Studies, during her 26 year career with the Houston Independent School District. As a Vocational and Academic Counselor, Marcia provided advice and guidance to her students, as well as to many others. Marcia led a very colorful & full life which included working for Aviator Charles Lindberg, selflessly volunteering for the first antituberculosis vaccine (during the 1940’s), and spending many blissful childhood days at the Phillips Mansion (Milk of Magnesia) with her Auntie Phillips, in Glenbrook, Connecticut. Marcia’s interests included her fascination with Archaeology, Astronomy, and World History. Her artistic ability was expressed through her love of painting with watercolors. Marcia is preceded in death by her parents Maxwell and Ethel Mernstein, her sister Roberta Bates Parker, her husband William Francis Zehl M.D., and her son William Richard Zehl O.D. She is survived by her ever-devoted and loving daughters Jacqueline Leslie Zehl and Linda Love Breihan, with their respective husbands James Parker Johnson and James William Breihan; her daughter-in-law Soraya Ilkhan Zehl; her Grandchildren Ryan Hamilton Zehl and wife Laura Ebeling Zehl, Alexander Maxwell Zehl, Meryl Lorraine Hawk, and Diana Michelle Hawk; and her Great Grandchildren

Ryan Heath Zehl and Barbara Bates Zehl. Marcia will be dearly missed by all – our love for her will continue until the end of time and beyond. A private ceremony will be held at the V.A. National Cemetery on October 12, 2021.
