Tunsil put on IR

The Texans placed starting left tackle Laremy Tunsil on injured reserve Saturday, and the franchise’s best player is likely to miss more than the minimum three weeks required.

Tunsil had surgery on his left thumb Thursday to repair a fully torn UCL. Coach David Culley said Tunsil could be out for up to four weeks.

Tunsil sustained the injury during the second quarter of Houston’s 25-22 loss to the Patriots. Backup tackle Geron Christian replaced Tunsil for the rest of the game.

In other news, the Texans elevated offensive guard Lane Taylor from the practice squad for the first time, providing an experienced option against the Colts on an offensive line that has been hampered by injuries.
