WHAT IS NOTABLE DOR Medicare in 2022?

- By Jan Burns FREELANCE WRITER

Medicare plans can change each year, so those with Medicare should stay informed and review their plan annually to make sure it. Still meets both needs and budget. Following are new to Medicare for 2022: Medicare now covers cognitive assessment and care plan services. When you see a provider for a visit (including yearly “wellness” visit), the provider may perform a cognitive assessment to look for signs of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease. Conditions like depression, anxiety, and delirium can also cause confusion, so it’s important to understand why you may be having symptoms.

Medicare covers a separate visit with your regular doctor or a specialist to do a full review of your cognitive function, establish or confirm a diagnosis like dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease, and develop a care plan. The Part B deductible and coinsurance apply.

Medicare will also cover the bloodbased biomarker test in certain cases (if available), for colorectal cancer, once every three years.

You pay nothing for the test if your doctor or other qualified health care provider accepts assignment.

To be eligible there are several conditions:

• You are between 50 and 85.

• You show no symptoms of colorectal disease.

• You’re at average risk for developing colorectal cancer.
