Award-winning Realtor focuses on the Heights

Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Gary Greene — Inner Loop Realtor Rachel Thompson returned to her hometown after college to start her career here in Houston and hasn’t looked back.

Thompson, a graduate of Texas State University, spent four years in sales in the corporate world before changing to real estate. Today, she’s a gogetter with an excellent reputation with her clients and in the industry.

Her focus area is the Heights and inner loop. Working with millennial first-time home buyers is one of her areas of specialty.

“I love working with them,” Thompson said. “I get to be a part of one of the most fun times in their life, and it is so rewarding. It is also a great time to buy because the seller market has calmed down. Mortgage rates are still at a historic low.”

As a four-year resident of the Heights, Thompson has embraced the real estate industry for nearly five years. It was after a sabbatical year in 2017 that she spent a year traveling around Southeast Asia and Central and South America that she chose to become a Realtor.

“I got to take a sabbatical for a year which allowed me to see the world. I knew I could not go back to the corporate grind. I needed my freedom, and I needed to do something that felt like I was making a difference,” she said.

She learned her work ethic and sales stamina at her former job, she said.

“It taught me how to take ownership and follow up,” said Thompson.

Her determination and hard work have resulted in numerous recognitions.

In 2019, Thompson was named Rookie of the Year on the National level for Gary Greene Realtors. In 2020, she was named Number One in her Inner Loop office, and Number One for working with the most buyers in both 2019 and 2020.

“I truly care as if every client is my last,” she said. “I take my job personally. I strive for perfection and to make sure that I am doing the best when it comes to my marketing, pricing, communication, and customer service.”

Thompson said she is thankful for her growth in becoming the best Realtor she can be in the past five years.

“I would not be able to have done it if it wasn’t for every single client that has trusted me. We have over 33,000 agents just here in Houston alone. I never take it for granted when I am selected and strive to make it the best experience for my client,” Thompson said.
