WALDENE BROWN
1922-2021
Waldene Leila Brown, age 99, a resident of Houston for 73 years passed on from her family’s loving embrace and into the Lord’s loving hands on Tuesday, the 2nd of November 2021.
She was born on the 30th of September 1922, in New Ulm, Texas to Ardnie Dietrich Voskamp and Leila Henrietta Vogelsang. Mrs. Brown graduated from Columbus High School and was a member of Second Baptist Church of Houston. She met and married the love of her life, Richard Lewis Brown at Fort Hood Texas in 1943 and they were married for 58 wonderful years. She co-founded, with her husband, Texas Industrial Fastener Company in Houston in 1961 and helped develop the company into a major industrial supplier of maintenance and repair products with a nationwide sales team.
She is survived by her son, Robert Bruce Brown and his wife Sandra Nieman Brown, her grandson Christopher Nieman Brown and his wife Savannah Raymond Brown, and her great grandson Jack Raymond Brown all of Houston, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock in the afternoon until seven o’clock in the evening on Monday, the 8th of November, in the parlor and grand foyer of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
Those serving as honorary pallbearers are Henry Schonenberg, Curtiss Schonenberg, Corey Schonenberg, Sonny Lauzon, Vince Gillespie, Mark Nieman, Miguel Lopez, and Salvador Lopez.
The funeral service is to be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning on Tuesday, the 9th of November, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis and Sons, where Rev. Mike Carlen is to officiate. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception to be held in the adjacent grand foyer.
The family will gather at a later date for a private interment at New Ulm Cemetery in New Ulm, Texas.
