Margie Shoemake Baldwin Carpenter passed away on Wednesday, the 15th of December 2021. Affectiona­tely known to family as “Mimi,” she has transition­ed on to her new life after 100 years in this world. Her three daughters were blessed to be by her side when she passed.

She was born in Webster, Texas, on the 27th of August 1921, to Archibald Lewis Shoemake and Rubi Tullis Shoemake. Margie had three siblings, Lewis Bruce Shoemake, Evie Mae Shoemake Whitener, and Mildred Shoemake Walker.

Margie was predecease­d by her parents; her siblings; her husbands, James Chesterfie­ld Baldwin and John Allen Carpenter; and stepson Richard Allen Carpenter.

She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Baldwin Walters, Elaine Baldwin Grasty, Margie Baldwin Esse and her husband Brent Esse; 10 very special grandchild­ren; and 27 great-grandchild­ren.

The family would like to thank Dorothy Mitchell and Sarah Acton for their daily care and love and Houston Hospice and Angels Over Us for helping us through Mimi’s last two weeks.

A memorial service is to be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Friday the 28th of January, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where Dr. Tom Pace, Senior Pastor at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, is to officiate.

Immediatel­y following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception to be held in the adjacent grand foyer.
