ROSMARY WEIS KERCHEVAL

1925-2022

-

Rosmary Weis Kercheval, was born on the 15th of March 1925, in Wheatley, Arkansas, and passed away in Sugar Land, Texas on Saturday, the 8th of January 2022. She was 96 years of age.

Although born in Wheatley she grew up five miles away in Brinkley and remained there until she attended The University of Arkansas during the war years, WWII. At Arkansas, “Rosie” was a sixyear cheerleader, member of the Tri Delts, and was famous for ‘calling the hogs.’ Rosmary received her Masters at Arkansas and began her teaching career at The University of Houston. It was there, that she met her husband-to-be, Richard “Dick” Kercheval.

Rosie was a masterful cook, who loved inventing in the kitchen. She learned to play golf and she and Dick became club champs in the same year. Her competitive side showed most often in defense of her beloved Razorbacks, but also on the golf course. She adored competitive golf tournaments and played in too many to count, forging lifelong friendships all along the way.

Rosmary and Dick celebrated 54 years of marriage and are survived by their three kids: sons, Rick Kercheval and his wife Paula, Steve Kercheval and his wife Gale, and daughter Lynn Kercheval; six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rosmary had resided in Houston and Sugar Land since 1951. She left us on Saturday, the 8th of January 2022, at the age of 96 years, surrounded by family and the greatest medical team and caregivers imaginable. Special thanks to Sandy Olive and Shaniece Ferguson for wonderfully and lovingly leading the caregiver and medical teams, along with hospice nurse Kathy Westfall.

Rosie and Dick are currently shooting under par on one of God’s greatest golf courses.

As we process through this time in our world we invite all of you to services for Rosmary, with the understanding that that may not be possible. If not, she will still know your love and presence. If you are able to come, and if it’s in your closet, feel free to wear red…in her honor.

A recitation of the Holy Rosary is to commence at three o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, the 16th of January, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where all are invited to greet the family and share remembrances during a visitation immediately following until five o’clock.

A Mass of Christian Burial is to be offered at half-past ten o’clock in the morning on Monday, the 17th of January, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 507 S. 4th Street in Richmond, Texas.

The Rite of Committal will immediately follow, via escorted cortege, at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston.

In lieu of customary remembrances, our mother would have preferred that, if you wish, give to the charity or cause important to you, in her honor.
