FREDERICK “FRED” ARTHUR SCHUENAMAN

1949-2022

-

Frederick (“Fred”) Arthur Schuenaman, resident of Georgetown, Texas peacefully passed away at home with his family by his side on Tuesday, January 4, 2022. Fred was 72 years old and had fought a long-time battle with leukemia.

Fred is survived by his beloved wife, the love of his life, Linda Mulvihill, daughter Mandy and husband Chad Watkins; three grandchildren Cash, Weezie and Duke Watkins; and sister Beth and husband Hank Boehler. Fred was preceded in death by his cherished daughter Kimberly and his parents, Arthur and Janice Schuenaman.

Fred was born February 17, 1949 in Cleveland, Ohio and grew up in Shaker Heights, Ohio. After graduating from Orange High School, Fred attended Duke University and was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, where he made friendships that would last for a lifetime. After graduating, Fred took a job in sales with Davies Can Company based in Tampa, Florida. Subsequent steps included working in Houston, Texas for R.B. Patterson as Branch Manager in the 90’s and then ultimately, following two buyout acquisitions, the Pipeline Packaging division of Cleveland Steel beginning in 2009. Fred retired from Pipeline Packaging in 2018. Following retirement, Fred and Linda moved to Georgetown, Texas.

Fred loved sports and followed teams from Cleveland, Tampa and Houston but his passion as far as a fan was the Duke Blue Devil basketball team. Testimony to that is to note that his grandchildren called him Duke and his youngest grandson is named Duke. GO DUKE! Beyond family and sports, Fred also loved golf, reading and travel. However, what Fred loved most of all was people - family, friends, associates, customers and yes, strangers, and they loved him. A tall man with a big voice and laugh as well as an enormous heart, Fred was always a presence in the room. Fred was a very intelligent and well-read man who not only had a strong opinion on every topic but was anxious to share that opinion. Fred was an exceptional husband, father, brother, grandfather, friend and associate - a unique and special man. He will be greatly missed.

Special thanks to the entire team at M.D. Anderson as well as fantastic friends who have assisted and provided love and support to Fred, Linda and family through this difficult time.

The family plans to host a Celebration of Life for all who loved Fred in early spring when it is safer to gather as a group. The family looks forward to seeing all of his friends and colleagues at that time.

In lieu of usual remembrances, the family suggests contributions in memory of Fred be made to Wounded Warrior Project or St. Judes Research Hospital. Fred greatly benefited from the gift of blood transfusions during his illness. Please also consider giving a blood donation to the American Red Cross or Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center.
