Louis (Lou) W. Powers passed away on January

9th, 2022 at the age of 86. Lou was born on June 17,

1935 in El Dorado, Kansas as the youngest child of Bill and Lucile Powers. Lou graduated from high school in Winfield, Kansas in 1953. He graduated from Oklahoma A&M (now Oklahoma State University) in May 1957.

After college, he earned a master’s degree in mechanical engineerin­g from Ohio State University. He met his wife Ruth Nell Ramsey at the Wesley Foundation in Stillwater. They married on June 29, 1958 and settled in Jenks, Oklahoma where Lou started his 22 year career with the Jersey Production Research Company, which later became Exxon. His career with Exxon resulted in many moves including one tour in Venezuela and another in Saudi Arabia. After retiring from Exxon in 1979, Lou started his own firm Patterson, Powers Petroleum Consultant­s, eventually becoming Powers Petroleum Consultant­s. After retiring in 1995, Lou was involved in Prison Ministry for 17 years. He was a longtime member of Memorial Drive United Methodist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents Bill and Lucile Powers of Winfield, Kansas and his son Jamie Powers of Houston. Lou is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Ruth Nell Powers; his sister Marilyn McNeish of Winfield, Kansas; his daughter Lou

Ann Davenport and husband Steve of Sugar Land, Texas; daughter Cheryl Stillson and husband Bryan of Katy, Texas; daughter-in-law Ann Powers of Houston, Texas; 8 grandchild­ren, Blake Davenport, Matthew Davenport, Rebecca Powers, Melinda Powers, Louie Powers, Luke Stillson, Benjamin Stillson and Caleb (CJ) Stillson and numerous nieces and nephews.
