Veteran Realtor specializes in The Woodlands, nearby areas

- By Valerie Sweeten

Realtor Renay Cohen with Douglas Elliman has enjoyed buying and selling homes in The Woodlands and the surrounding communities throughout Houston for many years.

“The Woodlands … offers a variety of lifestyle and community amenities,” said Cohen. “It is beautifully planned, has great schools and shopping, with low taxes and beautiful trees.”

Now is a good time to buy, as area properties — though tight on inventory — continue to maintain their value, particularly in The Woodlands.

“Inventory is low and prices are increasing, however The Woodlands remains a safe investment and typically holds its value,” said Cohen.

A Houston resident for over 40 years, Cohen has lived in her focus area for the past 12. She started in real estate in 1988 when she was 17 years old.

At the beginning, Cohen’s first clients were buyers and custom-home builders in the high-end Houston market.

She was able to utilize her extensive knowledge of outlying suburban neighborhoods and quickly became a relocation expert.

“I started working for a real estate development company in high school and fell in love with the business,” she said.

She had previously worked in retail sales, which helped her learn how important customer service is and how to prioritize client’s needs.

Cohen, a consistent top producer, has received numerous awards. She is a member of the Martha Turner Properties Circle of Excellence and the Hall of Fame as well as being nominated for a Greater Houston Builders Association PRISM Award.

Additional recognitions include The Producers Club, Platinum Texas 5

Star Realtor, and Real Trends — America’s Best Realtor Top 2021.

She credits her success to her key personal traits, which range from her direct, no-nonsense approach to significant knowledge of the market and trends.

Clients also have noted she is very detail-oriented and will regularly go the extra mile for them.

She also is able to understand the relocation process from an agent’s perspective, and also has firsthand experience as an individual relocating overseas and back again with her husband’s company.

“I fight hard for my clients and have the ability to come up with solutions and work through the more challenging issues to keep the deals together,” she said.
