Byron Keith Lovelace, the son of the late Joseph Edward and Hattie Brians Lovelace was born in Vernon, Texas on February 15, 1935. He passed away peacefully on March 3, 2022 at the age of 87. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Curtis, and his sister Donna. Keith will be dearly missed by his wife of 60 years, Sandra Daniel Lovelace, son Kirk Daniel Lovelace, daughter Beth Howell and her husband Mike, daughter Amy Dawson and her husband Philip, and 6 grandchildren – Katie, Emily, and Kyle Howell; and Chase, Cameron, and Connor Dawson, and many other family members and cherished friends.

Keith grew up in Dallas, Texas and was a 1953 graduate of Sunset High School where he excelled in both academics and sports. Keith graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1958 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. That year the American Chemical Society named him outstanding senior chemical engineering student at the University of Texas. He was elected to the honorary societies Tau Beta Pi and Omega Chi Epsilon. He continued his studies and completed a Master’s degree and a PhD in physical chemistry.

Keith held leadership positions with both Core Laboratories and Texas Instruments. In 1978 he earned a JD from South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas, and in 1980 opened his own law office. He continued the practice of law until the end of 2021. Over the course of his law practice all three of his children and one granddaughter worked with him. They were able to see the dedication he had for his clients and how much their successful representation meant to him. He also had several long standing employees during his practice that he viewed like family.

Community involvement was very important to Keith. For many years, he was a devoted member of the Bellaire/Southwest Houston Rotary Club and the Greater Southwest Houston Chamber of Commerce. He served in leadership roles in both organizations.

A memorial is scheduled for Wednesday, March 23, at 10:00 am at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home, with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Keith to the Rotary International Annual Fund at https://my.rotary.org/en/ donate.
