GHBA Benefit Homes Project
To construct 2 homes this year
The Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA) announced that two home builders have signed on to build a home for the annual charity fundraiser — the Benefit Homes Project.
They are Taylor Morrison/Darling Homes and HistoryMaker Homes.
This 42-year-old program recruits two builders a year to build a home with donated materials and services from GHBA member companies. The homes are typically built with amenities and features not always found in homes with similar pricing, and then are sold at market value. The more donations provided, the less the home costs to build and the more money will be raised. The beneficiaries of the sale, are two local charities — Operation Finally Home and HomeAid Houston.
“We are so excited to have Taylor Morrison/Darling Homes back as a Benefit Home builder as well as HistoryMaker Homes for 2022,” said Scott Merovitch, chairman of the Benefit Homes Project and Chesmar Homes city president. “Both have recently built a Benefit home within the
past five years, so this is a great testament to the program, as the building community understands how valuable the funds raised are for charity.”
Groundbreaking for Taylor Morrison/ Darling Homes Benefit home will be held in late spring. The groundbreaking for the HistoryMaker Home will be held in late summer.
Not one year has gone by since the Project’s inception that Houston area companies have not made this happen.
Everything from the land, surveys, construction and closings have been donated.
The companies that participate range from large national organizations, to local
one-man/woman operations.
The construction and sale of these homes for the Benefit Homes Project means that through Operation Finally Home, wounded veterans and their families will own a mortgage-free home that is constructed to meet their needs through the direction and vetting by the OFH team.
And, through HomeAid Houston, homeless men, women, children and veterans will have a safe, stable environment to begin rebuilding their lives.
