PAULINE LESTER NOLEN

1925-2022

-

Pauline Lester Nolen, born in Collierville, Mississippi to Mamie Blackwell and Lee Lester on July 25, 1925 left this world on Good Friday, April 15, 2022 to rejoin her husband of 50 years, James A Nolen. After being raised, getting married and having her first two children, Jim Jr. and Perry, in Memphis, TN, the family moved to Houston (Bellaire), Texas in 1954 and bought a house where they would reside for 60 years and welcome their third son, Mark. Pauline and Jim were long-time members of West University Baptist Church.

After the kids were grown, Jim and Pauline started a successful real estate agency and pursued their dreams of traveling the world. After Jim’s death in 1997, Pauline was fortunate to have met Bob Dawson who took her for dinner and dancing every week. After Bob Dawson passed, Pauline met Bob Sholes, who was her constant companion until he passed. Unfortunately, Pauline suffered a TIA in 2012 that caused her to suffer dementia that progressively worsened over the next 10 years. The family wishes to acknowledge the work that Perry Nolen did as her trustee and managing her affairs as well as Pat Orlando, her longtime caregiver.

The youngest of nine children, Pauline was preceded in death by her eight siblings: Willie, Herman, J.W., Lee

Jr., Lela, Ruby, and Jesse and Eugene Lester. Pauline is also preceded in death by her husband, Jim Sr, and her step-son, Russell Nolen. She is survived by her three sons: Jim Nolen Jr. and wife, Lorna Belk; Perry and Cindy Nolen; Mark and Jodi Nolen and Russell’s ex-wife, Charlotte. Pauline is also survived by 10 grandkids: Nicholas Nolen; Zachary Nolen; Robert (Bob) Nolen and spouse, Carrie; Rachel and husband, Chris Palmarozzi; Blake Hill and wife, Emily; Kristen Nolen; Kellie Hastings and husband, Harry; Ashlie Rainwater and husband, Bubba; Debbie Woods and husband, Charlie; and Pam Gilmore and husband, Mike. She was blessed with 11 great grandkids: Wells and Nolen Hastings; Parker Nolen; Amelia Hill; Cort, Caden and Holland Rainwater; Chelsea and Vivian Woods; and Dalton and Dillon Gilmore. Pauline has many nieces and nephews too numerous to list, but whom she treated as her own children.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donating to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, Houston

Hospice (Medical Center) or Houston Pets Alive. Services will be held at Earthman’s Bellaire Funeral Home on Monday, April 25th , with visitation at 9:00, funeral at 10:00 and followed by a graveside service at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery at 11:30.
