Jr., 94, born November 15, 1927 in Houston, Texas to Ralph Lafayette James

Sr. and Barbara Machala James, died December 25, 2021 with his family at his side. He is survived by his son Russell Ray James & wife Karen Higgs James of Falls Church, Virginia; son Royce William James & wife Tina Collins James, daughter Laura Jean James Moxcey & Husband Scott Moxcey; five grandchild­ren, Amanda Rae James, Hunter William James, Hannah Marie James, Nicolas James Moxcey and Sydney Faith Moxcey, all of Spring, Texas; and brotherin-law Charles F. Bohmann. Ralph was preceded in death by his mother & father, wife of 65 years Marilyn Louise Janssen James, brothers Robert James, Walter James, and Horace James; and sisters Jean James Snell and Barbara Ruth James Bohmann.

Ralph grew up with his family on Nett Street in the West End area of Houston, Texas. He graduated from Sam Houston High School. He served in the US Army in Korea during the Korean War. Ralph married the love of his life, Marilyn “Pucky” Janssen of La Grange, TX, in 1955. They raised a family in Houston on Sue Ellen Street in the same neighborho­od as Marilyn’s sister Stella Janssen Ellerman and brother-in-law Sigmund Ellerman until

1970 when the family moved to Northampto­n in Spring, Texas. Ralph enjoyed success in the insurance business in Houston, retiring as a partner and owner of the insurance brokerage firm with which he worked for more than 35 years. After retiring, Ralph continued to work with Royce & Tina in their constructi­on business for many years. Ralph enjoyed fishing and shrimping with family & friends in Galveston Bay, garage sailing with Marilyn, hunting with Royce, bird watching, gardening, rooting for the Houston Astros, taking family vacations to Auburn, AL to visit Barbara & Charles and to Colorado, and traveling to Virginia to visit Russell & Karen. Ralph enjoyed supporting many charitable organizati­ons and causes. His smile, sense of humor, work ethic, determinat­ion, strength, perseveran­ce, and devotion to his family were second to none. Known as Dad, Pop, Gramps, and Uncle Ralph, he was dearly loved by his family and loved his family deeply.

Memorial Service will be Saturday May 14, 2022 at 2:00pm at The Church at Creeks End, 20010 Kuykendahl Rd, Spring, TX 77379.
