SALLY S. RUSSO

1937-2022

In the mid 1950’s, the Shaffer Family came to Houston to further their father’s attorney career with a major Oil & Gas organization. Sally had two brothers, Richard and Joel. Her brother Richard served as a Green Beret in the 82nd Air Borne Division.

After graduating Lamar High School, Sally attended the University of Texas and was an active Kappa Kappa Gamma, and where she met Joe.

After Joe completed his officer training US Army tour, Sally and Joe began their family’s career.

Sally and Joe always enjoyed their story about having four daughters: “When Sally had her first child, Kathy the doctor who brought her out to Joe and said “A beautiful daughter Mr. Russo,”” two years later the same doctor brought the second child to Joe and said, “Mr. Russo you have another beautiful daughter.” We named her Marian. Two years later the same doctor brought their third baby and said (again) “Mr. Russo, another beautiful daughter!” We named her Becky. Joe said “hmmm”. Two more years later, the same doctor brought their fourth daughter, Cindy. I said “Wow Doctor you and I have got to talk!”

Sally and Joe had a beautiful 66 year marriage thanks to their Catholic faith, God, family and few good friends.

Sally I love you more today than yesterday, I will see you soon.

Sally’s family members are Cindy and Steve Rigby, Becky and Greg De George, Marian and Jim Cisarik, Kathy and Tom Hamilton, Margie Shaffer, and eleven grand and great grandchildren.

A very special thanks to the caregivers: Sonia S. Harrison’s team and Maria T. Martinez.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church, 1801 Sage Rd. Houston, TX 77056. A private committal service will be held at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in Sally’s name to St. Michael Catholic Church.
