American Song Contest NBC, 6 p.m.
In “The Qualifiers, Part 5,” a repeat of last Monday’s episode of the competition series, the qualifying rounds conclude as three artists from Week 4 are revealed as advancing to the semifinals, and 11 artists from across the country perform original music to earn the country’s vote for best hit song. Snoop Dogg and Kelly Clarkson host.
Home Town Kickstart Presented by People
HGTV, 7 p.m. New Series
In support of the small-town revitalization movement inspired by Ben and Erin Napier of Home Town, this new series will give six quintessential small towns across the country a major boost to reenergize their revitalization efforts. In each episode, HGTV experts will take the lead on three projects for each town — refresh the home of a local hero, revamp a small business and reinvigorate a public space to enhance residents’ quality of life and engender community pride.
Gaslit
Starz, 7 p.m. New Series
Julia Roberts, Sean Penn, Dan Stevens, Betty Gilpin, Shea Whigham and Darby Camp star in this thrilling drama on the untold stories and forgotten characters of the Watergate scandal — from President Nixon’s bumbling and opportunistic subordinates to the deranged zealots aiding and abetting their crimes to the tragic whistleblowers who would eventually bring the whole rotten enterprise crashing down. The story centers on Martha Mitchell (Roberts) and her husband, Attorney General John Mitchell (Penn), who’s forced to choose between his wife and the president.
NCIS: Los Angeles CBS, 8 p.m.
The NCIS team helps Navy intelligence officer Akhil Ali (guest star Ashwin Gore) locate a fellow officer who went missing while recruiting foreign assets as potential sources of information in the new episode “Genesis.”
The Rookie ABC, 9 p.m.
In “Simone,” Claws’ Niecy Nash guest-stars as Simone Clark, a recent Quantico grad who helps Officer Nolan (Nathan Fillion) crack a domestic terrorism case. The two-parter, continuing May 1, is also a pilot for an FBIcentric spinoff that would center on the school counselor turned agent.
Billy the Kid

EPIX, 9 p.m.
British actor Tom Blyth (The Gilded Age) saddles up as the notorious 19th century gunslinger in this eight-episode series about Henry McCarty, aka William H. Bonney, aka Billy the Kid. Michael Hirst, creator/writer/executive producer of The Tudors and Vikings, handles the same duties here. The series chronicles Billy’s journey from a child in New York City to his fugitive days as a young man in New Mexico after his family travels west looking for better opportunities.
The Man Who Fell to Earth
Showtime, 9 p.m. New Series
In this continuation of the events of the 1976 film of the same name, a new alien character named Faraday (Chiwetel Ejiofor) arrives on Earth at a turning point in human evolution and must confront his own past to determine our future. Alone and desperate, Thomas Newton (Bill Nighy) summons Faraday to complete his original mission. But Newton’s time marooned among human beings has cost him everything, possibly even his sanity.
The Baby
HBO, 9:30 p.m. New Series
This horror comedy is about Natasha (Michelle de Swarte), whose life dramatically implodes after unexpectedly having a baby she doesn’t want. Controlling and manipulative — but incredibly cute — the baby twists Natasha’s life into a surreal horror show.
