Jessica Forsdick, a Greenwood King Properties Realtor with 15 years of real estate industry experience, shared these insights:

Why did you decide on a career in real estate? What was your inspiratio­n? I love decor, design, architectu­re; it all goes with my eye for art. The negotiatio­n and strategy goes with the side of me that worked in oil and gas, however the most important thing is that I love helping others. That combinatio­n fits perfectly for a career in residentia­l real estate.

What’s your previous work and training? I have a BA in art history from Texas Tech University, fashion in San Francisco from 2005-2007, and commercial real estate working in multifamil­y and hotels from 2007-2012. Oil and gas contract negotiatio­ns (with major oil companies and independen­t oil companies) from 2012-2020 (also including office leases for all corporate offices in the lower 48 states and Canada). I’ve worked in residentia­l real estate since 2020.

What are your focus areas? I have lived all over Houston including West U., Midtown, Energy Corridor, and Memorial west. This allows me to better represent all my clients. I have clients from Conroe to south of Houston.

How is the marketplac­e now and is it a good time to buy? The market is great, inventory is low, but there are amazing homes to be found. Interest rates are still at historic lows, so it is still a great time to buy. If you have been thinking about purchasing for a while, then now is still a great time to buy.

How would you describe your work ethic and skills for success? Real estate taps into the creative and business side of who I am. I rely strongly on my art degree for design knowledge and skills, and my negotiatio­n skills I honed in commercial real estate and oil and gas. My negotiatio­n skills were sharpened by negotiatin­g contracts with major oil companies as well as small independen­ts. “I learn about my clients to put the pieces together to find what they are looking for.”

What are some key ways you help your clients in the buying/selling process? Buying or selling, for a client, is a puzzle. I learn about my clients to put the pieces together to find what they are looking for.

For sales, I analyze and develop a strategy and put those pieces together to capitalize on the market. Most of the time a home is a person’s largest single investment, and I take helping them with that very seriously.

How does your company support your sales process? No two transactio­ns are the same and at Greenwood King Properites they have so much experience in the management, marketing, legal, and other agents to bounce ideas and questions off of. I have always worked well with having someone to bounce ideas off of, and real estate is no different.
