LEO DUDLEY (L.D.) CLOUD

Memorial Services for Leo Dudley Cloud (L.D.), 84, of Houston, Texas, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 1, 2022, in the Friendship Court of Memorial Drive United Methodist Church, 12955 Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77079. The Reverend Jim McPhail will officiate.

L.D. was born August 22, 1937, in San Antonio, Texas, and passed away on December 22, 2021, in Houston, Texas. He was a lifelong Methodist and a member of Memorial Drive United Methodist Church.

L.D. was a practicing architect and developer for over 50 years for O’Neil Ford & Associates (1961-1970), Bernard Johnson Architectu­re & Engineerin­g (1971-1986), and then in private practice as L.D. Cloud & Associates. He was a member of numerous profession­al boards.

He is a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in San Antonio, Texas and graduated with a degree in Architectu­ral Constructi­on from Texas A&M University in 1959. He served as an Officer in the Corps of Engineers.

His greatest loves were family, nature, reading, and tennis. L.D. was a man of faith, perseveran­ce and conviction, as well as a devoted Texas Aggie.

He is preceded in death by his parents Leo P. Cloud, Jr. and Virginia Mills Cloud; in laws James Benton Rylander and Ruth Rylander Givens; brother Jerry Dan Cloud; brother in law James B. Rylander, Jr.; and brother in law Marvin E. Greer; sister in law Norma Lee Cloud; and nephew Reagan E. Greer.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years Carolyn Rylander Cloud; daughter Carrie Cloud Clendenin (husband Thomas Edward Clendenin); granddaugh­ter Campbell Mills Clendenin; sister Carolyn Cloud Greer; sister in law Mary Lynn Hollis (husband Loyd Hollis); sister in law Deborah Dirks Rylander; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to sincerely thank Joseph C. Masdeu, MD, PhD and his staff at Houston Methodist Hospital in addition to L.D.’s caregivers for their compassion.
