Rosamay Lindsey Davis, born in Houston, Texas on March 20, 1930, died April

21, 2022, at the Hallmark in Houston. She was the oldest of two children of Marion Priester Lindsey and Erma Janice King.

Raised in Houston, excelled in volleyball and Spanish at San Jacinto High School and graduated in 1947

Rosamay received her BA in English and Spanish from the University of Texas and later she earned her MA in Speech Therapy from the University of Houston after marrying Gregory E. Davis in Kingsville, Texas on July 18, 1953, who she meets on Rice University campus.

Greg and Rosamay were introduced to camellias and became avid camellia hobbyist. Rosamay’s other hobbies were growing orchids and bromeliads. She pent her time with Family Genealogy and oriental rugs for over 30 years and was the co-founder of TORCH, The Oriental Rug Club of Houston, which lasted over 15 years.

Rosamay was proceeded in death by her parents Marion Priester Lindsey and Erma Janice King, her husband Gregory Earl Davis, daughter Ann Camille Davis and younger brother Marion “Budge” Lindsey. Rosamay is survived by her sons, Greg Davis and wife Cindy (Raymore, MO), son M Lindsey Davis and wife Cynthia Rohan (Castle Pines, CO), granddaugh­ter Elisabeth Bowen Johnson, grandson Kevin Andrew Davis and granddaugh­ter Katherine Marie Davis, great grandson Cooper Hoyt Johnson and great granddaugh­ter Amelia Elisabeth Johnson

She was interned at Glenwood Cemetery April 28, 2022 in the Priester family plot, next to her great grandmothe­r Wilhelmina Herdejurge­n.

Memorials in Rosamay’s honor can be made to Houston Food Bank and Houston SPCA.
