EMALYN BUCHTIEN

March 7, 1930 - June 8, 2022

-

On June 8, 2022 Emalyn Buchtien left this world to join her wonderful husband, Norman, where they will spend eternity in the presence of our Lord and Savior.

Born in Sealy, Texas on March 7, 1930 to George and Florine (Hartsfield) Hintz. She graduated Sealy High School in 1948 and shortly after married Norman and they moved to Houston to start their life together. Their marriage lasted 52 wonderful years until Norman’s passing in 2000. Their marriage served as a template of love, respect and dedication to their children and grandchildren.

Emalyn had two sons and she dedicated her life to them. She was a constant loving presence no matter the obstacles those rowdy, rambunctious boys presented. Especially the seven granddaughters, three great granddaughters and great grandson they gave her. She was kindhearted, generous and considerate to others. If you knew her, you knew she was a wonderful cook and an excellent baker. And she loved giving to others her baked goods. But most importantly Emalyn was the heart of her family.

A lifelong member of St. Stephens United Methodist Church where she raised her children and grandchildren. She had many friends within the church.

Emalyn was predeceased by her dear, wonderful Norman; father and step-mother, George and Gertrude Hintz, mother, Florine Hintz; sister and brother-in-law, Gloria and Florian Anderlla, and niece, Cheryl Anderlla and a dear friend, John Gutta.

She is survived by her sons, Ronald Buchtien (Karen), Michael Buchtien (Monica); Brothers George Hintz (Patricia), Lewis Hintz (Becky) and Wayne Hintz. Her cherished grandchildren who called her Mema include Allison Buchtien, Rachel Borne (Justin), Kasey Massey (Mark), Kelly Jackson (Cody), Audrey Marek (Marshall) Emily Buchtien and Shelby Buchtien. Great grandchildren, Whitney and Ava Borne, Harrison and Rosey Marek.

We find solace knowing her love will continue to watch over us while we will carry that same love and her memory within us. Even though you are not with us in the flesh, you will forever be in our hearts.

Pallbearers: Allison Buchtien, Kelly Jackson, Emily Buchtien, Shelby Buchtien, Audrey Marek, Kasey Massey and Rachel Borne

The family will receive friends at Pat H Foley, 1200 West 34th Street on Tuesday, June 14th beginning at 11:00. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway where she will be laid next to her beloved Norman.

The family request instead of flowers, donations be made to St. Stephen’s United Methodist Church in her name.
