HistoryMaker breaks ground for GHBA Benefit home

-

HistoryMaker vendors, construction team and other guests were recently on hand for the groundbreaking of HistoryMaker’s second Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA) Benefit home.

The home is being built on a lot in Sunterra, a new Land Tejas community in Katy. Land Tejas donated the homesite. HistoryMaker built their first Benefit home in 2018.

Each year, two to three homes are built for the Benefit Homes Project with donated land, materials and services by GHBA members. The homes offer a variety of the most popular features and amenities on the market today.

They are sold at market value and the majority of the proceeds benefit two nonprofits, HomeAid Houston and Operation Finally Home. Since the fundraiser began, more than $12 million has been raised.

“We are excited to begin construction of our Hemlock Plan in Sunterra,” said HistoryMaker Houston division president, Mickey Pizzitola. “We value the work that the two charities who will benefit from the fundraiser, provide to our community and it is an honor to work with the Land Tejas team and our generous vendors, trades and suppliers as we start the construction process.”

Joining the groundbreaking ceremony with Pizzitola from HistoryMaker were Lane Wright, the company’s president; Patrick Duggan, vice president of Land Acquisition and Development; Drew Ebersole, field manager and Billy

Staudt, construction manager. Representing Land Tejas was Tim Johnson, director of community sales and marketing.

Scott Merovitch, chairman of the Benefit Homes Project led the ceremony with help from GHBA President Jennifer Keller and GHBA CEO Aimee Bertrand; Operation Finally Home’s Vice President of Project Management Lee Kirgan, and HomeAid Houston Executive Director Carole Brady. Vendors in attendance included Mick’s Grass, Allpoints Surveying; Builders First Source, Rock Materials, Allstate Brick and DataSmart/Duncan Security.
