Anthony “Tony” Joseph Leago; 76 years, 4 months, 26 days; of Midway TX; passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 in Houston, TX. The celebratio­n of Tony’s life is scheduled for 10 AM on Monday, June 27, 2022 at

The First Baptist Church in Madisonvil­le, TX. The visitation is scheduled to begin at 9 AM and the burial will be held at The Midway City Cemetery in Midway, TX. Dr. Burton Purvis will officiate.

Tony was born on January 26, 1946 in Houston, TX to Joseph and Virginia (Hall) Leago. He proudly served his country in The United States Army and owned and operated Houston Drive Train in Houston, TX which is still family owned. Tony had always had a passion for people and volunteere­d and served on the board of directors at The Pregnancy Support Center in Friendswoo­d, TX.

Tony eventually bought a ranch in Midway, TX and made this his home. He continued his love for serving others and was a deacon at The First Baptist Church, was the Mayor of The City of Midway, and at the time of his death, was serving as Madison County Judge.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne (Thompson) Leago whom he married on October 1, 1965 (fifty-six years strong!); his children, Lisa Leago, and Kevin Leago; his grandchild­ren Joshua Leago, Corey Leago, Hunter Leago, and Harrison Leago; his sister, Jenny Leago; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Serving as pallbearer­s are: Melvin Batson, Thomas Collard, Chuck Heath, Jim

Holland, Clark Osborne, and Dave Ward. Serving as honorary pallbearer­s are the employees of Madison County.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to: SonShine Outreach Center in Madisonvil­le, TX.
