As Lin wrote: “I leave Ruth Elizabeth Gammell Cates, my beloved wife whom I cherished during 65 years of marriage; my wonderful children, Catherine Johnson (Robert Johnson) and Dr. Douglas Cates (Dr. Susan Ross); three marvelous grandchildren, Hannah Walker (Dr. Nicholas Walker), Garrett Johnson (Susan Fontaine), Alexander Emerson Cates; four greatgrandchildren, Helen, Karl, George, and Ivey. Also, my half-brother, Glenn Cates. I depart this world secure in the knowledge that we will all someday be united in the afterlife with Christ Jesus, our Lord, and Savior.
