PAUL CARSON

November 26, 1938 - July 11, 2022

-

Paul Theofanes Carson,

83, born to John and Sophie (Couloheras) Carson passed away in Houston, at 9:09

AM, Monday, July 11, 2022.

He entered this world at the Nix Hospital in downtown San Antonio on November

26, 1938. The youngest of the three Carson boys, Chris, George, and Paul, he attended TMI. John, who migrated from Katsarou, Greece, put them all on the road to American success.

The youngest in the family, Paul had a fierce spirit. He loved to tell of refusing a drill sergeant’s order at TMI to hold up a flagpole on a hill during a lightning storm. He was busted but that mattered little to him. This kind of independence and strength marked Paul’s life and defined his academic and then professional careers.

After TMI, Paul went on to graduate from the University of Texas at Austin with a major in marketing and a minor in finance. He was always a proud brother of his fraternity Sigma Nu. Once out in the business world,

Paul tried his hand at several different ventures: he was a traveling reporter at Dun and Bradstreet; he owned and operated a gas station in Houston; he partnered in a full-service advertising agency, Criezis & Carson. This was followed by him creating financial and business newsletters and publications throughout Texas.

Establishing his own firm, The Carson Group, in 1973, Paul was instrumental in the growth of several well-known firms. He took them from their infancy to prosperity. The “Remarkable Randalls” was named the Best Supermarket Campaign of the Decade and Women in Radio and Television declared him Adman of the Year. He would go on to win many accolades for the Carson Group. The list is extensive of the firms that succeeded with the guidance of Paul’s advertising skill.

Paul was very proud of his Greek heritage. He epitomized the passionate Greek. He loved his family dearly and truly cherished his friends. Paul was predeceased by his parents, John and Sophie; and brother, George. He is survived by his devoted wife, Leta; and beloved son, John and wife Rena. He had a special place in his heart for granddaughter, June. He even composed a song for her when she was born. Also surviving him are his big brother, Chris; and nephew, John George Carson.

Paul’s wit and humor, his energy and spirit will be greatly missed.

There will never be another like Paul Carson.

The family will receive guests from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at Porter Loring Mortuary.
