FORREST CRAWFORD

Forrest F. Crawford, Jr. passed away peacefully on

July 30 at age 94. He was born November 28, 1927 in Seminole, OK and leaves behind his beloved wife of 66 years, Jean; his two sons Steve (wife Karen) and Jeff; three grandchild­ren and five great grandchild­ren.

Forrest grew up in Kansas. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps, attaining the rank of Sergeant before receiving an honorable discharge in 1947.

Forrest joined Carter Oil Company after graduating from University of Tulsa in 1954, where he met the love of his life, Jean Baker. During a 40-year career with Carter/ Humble/Exxon he served in various capacities and locations, domestic and foreign. He was blessed to work with and for many great people, treasuring their friendship.

The Crawford’s first major move was from Tulsa to Houston, where they resided in Nottingham Forest. They subsequent­ly moved to New Orleans, back to Houston, to Denver, back to Houston where they settled for 32 years in Huntwick.

After retirement, Forrest was active with John Wesley UMC and loved to play golf, bridge, 42 Dominoes, shuffleboa­rd, games of any sort and an occasional trip to the casino. He and Jean spent many hours watching their grandchild­ren participat­e in their many activities and establishi­ng friendship­s with the parents. After moving to Eagle’s Trace in 2015, they joined Memorial Drive UMC for the third time.

Forrest was easy to know and is well remembered for his firm handshake, poetic odes to family and friends and his story telling for any occasion (from G to X-rated, as deemed appropriat­e). He will be missed, and never forgotten.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 11 at 3pm at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church (12955 Memorial Drive).
