Arthur Squires of Houston, Texas passed away on August 8, 2022, surrounded by family. Art was born in Philadelph­ia to Harry and Elenor on July 15th, 1933.

Art was sixteen when he joined the air force and while

in service he met his brideto-be, Barbara, at a sorority Jewish community dance. Art was Houston’s “Mr. Entertaine­r” bringing shows across all genres to Houston by founding Southwest Concerts, Barbara Production­s operating for over 50 years as Houston’s premiere theatrical promoter. ART SQUIRES: He presented over hundreds of concerts and Broadway plays between the 1960’s -1990’s including some of the biggest names in the industry. Art and Barbara’s contributi­on to the entertainm­ent

industry was extensive. He was an entreprene­urs; owner of 6th Street Live, Southwest Carriage Limousines, Art Advertisin­g Agency, involved in real estate ventures, and a major contributo­r to the rejuvenati­on of the Paramount

Theatre in Austin, Texas. A beloved parent, he is survived by his spouse Barbara, his children Mitchell and his wife Marla Squires and Heather her husband Scott Thomas, as well as his grandchild­ren Casie, Kirby, Austin, Avery, and Ashley.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, August 21, 2022 at 11:30 am at Congregati­on Beth Israel 5600 N. Braeswood Blvd. Houston, TX. 77096.
