Shadow Creek tops Manvel

-

Shadow Creek and Manvel are separated by a short 8.4-mile drive along Highway 288.

But since the former opened its doors in 2016, the schools had not met on the football field.

That all changed Friday night as the Sharks prevailed with a 32-13 victory in an Alvin ISD showdown at Freedom Field.

Running back Tylik Burton led the Sharks with 144 rushing yards and a score on 11 carries. Quarterback Duke Butler passed for 239 yards and three scores to lead the offense.

“First game of the season, we had a few kinks we needed to work out,” Butler said. “We left a few plays on the field, but I was just glad to see that we stayed with it and locked in during the second quarter, and we got it done.”
