Madi Laughlin Barbles, a Realtor with Greenwood King Properties — Voss Office, recently shared these insights:

Q: Why did you decide on a career in real estate and what are some things you enjoy about it? Who inspired you?

A: I started my career in the commercial real estate industry in 2018, which ended up being a great segue into the residentia­l side of the business. I started with Greenwood King earlier this year. I love supporting my

clients while they make one of the biggest decisions of their lives. From a young age, I enjoyed watching my mother, Bonnie Laughlin, excel in this industry. She has taught me everything I know about residentia­l real estate. I could not be more thankful to have such a hard-working role model helping me along the way.

Q: What are your main neighborho­od/areas of focus?

A: I live with my husband and one year old twins in the Memorial Villages, which is where I grew up, so this is my main area of focus. I have been spending the majority of my time recently working with clients in the Heights, Rice Military, Spring Valley and the Memorial Villages.

Q: How is the marketplac­e, and is it a good time to buy?

A: With the latest interest rate hikes, we have seen a slightly cooler real estate market. With the potential for additional raises in interest rates during the remainder of 2022, now is a good time to buy. I am not seeing nearly as competitiv­e of a market as I did just a few months ago. Historical­ly from around now until the end of the year, prices seem to be at their lowest point.

Q: How do you help your clients in the buying/ selling process?

A: The first step I take is setting my clients up to receive data on current market conditions. Once I have establishe­d the environmen­t of the market and areas of interest, I am able to help buyers present a fair, clean, offer. My relationsh­ip with other agents allows me to find off market listings for my clients, as well.

I help sellers establish a competitiv­e listing price. I am present for inspection­s, showings and tours. I help sellers prepare their home to hit the market, including setting up staging when necessary and organizing photograph­y.

Q: Describe your work ethic and skills that bring you success:

A: I have been a natural competitor my whole life, which I learned from sports at an early age. This drives me to get the best deals done for my clients. I understand this is a 24/7 business, so I always make myself available to assist my clients. My top skills that help me in this industry are honesty, strong communicat­ion, grit, and persistenc­e.

Q: Talk about your education, previous work and training:

A: I graduated from Texas Christian University with a BBA in finance from the Neeley School of Business in 2018. Right out of college, I started working for Stream Realty Partners with the office and medical office leasing teams. There I focused on landlord representa­tion on the office side as well as ground-up developmen­t on the medical office side of the business.

Q: How does your company support your sales process?

A: I believe Greenwood King has the best support system in the industry, which was a characteri­stic that really drew me to the company. The firm offers great insight into the market, an amazing in-house marketing team and relocation department.
