Davis’ late TD lifts Katy past Atascosita

Fans waited through a lightning delay of almost two hours to watch Katy and Atascocita play Friday at Legacy Stadium. They were rewarded with a classic between stateranked teams.

Seth Davis scored on a 57-yard run with 1:01 remaining to give No. 5 Katy a 35-28 victory in its nondistrict finale. Davis rushed for 190 yards and two scores for the Tigers (2-0).

Zion Brown passed for 256 yards and two touchdowns to lead No. 10 Atascocita (1-1)

“I was proud of our kids,” Katy coach Gary Joseph said. “That’s a good football team over there, no doubt. They made some plays on us and got us in some situations. The kids fought through it. That’s what I’m most proud of.”
