04/16/1950 - 09/03/2022

-

Charles (Chuck) Russell Davis died peacefully on Saturday, September 3, 2022 after a valiant battle with pancreatic and myeloma cancers. Born in Houston April 16, 1950, Chuck was the son of Russell Leon Davis and Charlene Bellenger Davis. He was preceded in death by his parents and younger brothers Ronald Francis Davis, and Michael Paul Davis.

A third-generation Texan, Chuck was raised in Longview. He later moved to Houston and was a graduate of the University of Houston. He was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone until his retirement in 2000. After retirement, Chuck was an apprentice in the PAGA program, served as an assistant professional at Hermann Park Golf Course, and coached the Boys and Girl’s Golf Teams at Lamar High School in Houston. When asked about his passions, he shared the following: “golf, good food, good friends, good movies, good books, the outdoors and general enjoyment of a life well-lived.” He indeed did enjoy all of those things! His large circle of friends will miss his humor, wit, and ever-diplomatic manner.

Chuck is survived by his wife and best friend of 43 years, June Wooten Davis; sisters-in-law, Leeanne Bown Davis of Flint, TX, Sue Wooten Holzhauser of Houston, and Judith Wooten Philips of Kensington, MD. He leaves behind nephews Zachary Davis (Kelli) of Flint, TX, Clark Holzhauser of Houston and Todd Philips of San Diego, CA; nieces Corey Morris Davis (Todd) of Tyler, TX, Stacia Philips Deshishku of NYC and Beth Holzhauser Barton (Sean) of Houston, and their families.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate Chuck’s life will be announced later. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center, P.O. Box 4486, Houston, TX 77210-4486 or www. mdanderson.org/gifts.
