Ojiaku’s 4 scores lift Foster to win
Foster continued its impressive start against local rivals, the latest in the Class 5A District 10 Division I opener.
After convincing nondistrict victories against George Ranch and Travis, the Falcons defeated Terry 41-0 to start league play at Traylor Stadium.
Both teams were undefeated entering the game, as Terry defeated Clements 35-20 and rival Lamar Consolidated 20-3.
But Foster recorded its first shutout of the season, while Ashton Ojiaku carried 24 times for 287 yards and four touchdowns in another rout. The Falcons finished 5-5 last year, narrowly missing the playoffs, but a seasoned group is starting strong.
“I think a lot of it is familiarity and experience,” Foster coach Shaun McDowell said. “We don’t have to do a lot of things we did last year because these guys come in with a business-like attitude and expectations. I don’t have to teach a whole bunch of stuff. They already know what we’re about and what we’re doing. It’s really refreshing. To watch the guys go out there and execute at a high level in practice, and then see it in the game, is pretty awesome.”
