Guardians take two from Twins

CLEVELAND — Austin Hedges scored on an error by shortstop Jermaine Palacios in the 15th inning and the AL Central-leading Cleveland Guardians beat the Minnesota Twins for the eighth straight time, 7-6 in the second game of a doublehead­er Saturday.

Amed Rosario, who went 8 for 13 with six RBIs in the twinbill, hit a sharp grounder that Palacios mishandled with two outs. The ball skidded into the outfield, allowing Hedges to score from third and end the 5-hour, 24-minute marathon.

In the first game, Shane Bieber allowed one run over eight innings as the Guardians won 5-1.

Blue Jays 6, Orioles 3: Raimel Tapia hit a threerun double, Jose Berrios pitched six innings and host Toronto improved to 13-4 in September.

Braves 4, Phillies 3: Ronald Acuna Jr. homered and drove in four runs for host Atlanta. Braves second baseman Ozzie Albies broke his right pinky finger.

Brewers 4, Yankees 1: Willy Adames hit a threerun shot for his 30th homer of the season, Brandon Woodruff pitched eight strong innings and Milwaukee beat visiting New York.

Cardinals sweep Reds: Andrew Knizner scored on a throwing error by Cincinnati center fielder Nick Senzel, as St. Louis beat the Reds 1-0 in 11 innings to earn a doublehead­er sweep. Yadier Molina hit a tworun home run as the Cardinals took the opener 5-1.

Mets 5, Pirates 1: Eduardo Escobar hit an early three-run homer, Chris Bassitt pitched six shutout innings for his 14th win and New York won at home.

Rays 5, Rangers 1: Taylor Walls homered and the Rays won at home.

White Sox 4, Tigers 3 (11): Yoan Moncada hit a tie-breaking single in a two-run 11th inning, and Chicago won at Detroit.

Dodgers 7, Giants 2: Trayce Thompson hit a tworun homer to back Julio Urias’ 17th win, and Los Angeles won at San Francisco.

Padres 2, Diamondbac­ks 0: Joe Musgrove allowed four hits over six scoreless innings as San Diego won at Arizona.

Angels 2, Mariners 1: Shohei Ohtani pitched seven scoreless innings, drove in one run and scored another as Los Angeles won at home.

Rockies 3, Cubs 1: Charlie Blackmon hit a tiebreakin­g triple in the ninth and Colorado won at Wrigley Field.

Royals 9, Red Sox 0: Brady Singer pitched six shutout innings to lead Kansas City to a road win.

Nationals 5, Marlins 3: Lane Thomas got things started with a leadoff homer for host Washington and the Nationals hit three more in a win over Miami.
