Manvel makes most of turnovers
One week after a difficult loss against Angleton to kick off district play, Manvel turned a pair of first-half turnovers into points en route to a 24-14 victory over Friendswood on Friday at Winston Stadium.
After trailing 17-0 at halftime, Friendswood (2-2, 1-1) fought back and remained within striking range until Mavericks quarterback Kaden Smith connected with Kyler Flint for an 86-yard touchdown strike with 3:01 left in the contest.
“To come in here and win was big,” Manvel coach Kevin Hall said. “It gets us back into a better place in the district standings, and our goal is to get in the playoffs.”
