HistoryMaker builds GHBA Benefit home in Sunterra
HistoryMaker Homes is nearing completion on its Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA) Benefit home it’s constructing in Sunterra, a new Land Tejas community. HistoryMaker is constructing its Hemlock plan with donated materials and services by GHBA members.
Each year two homes are built for the Benefit Homes Project in prime communities. The homes receive donations from the survey and foundation through to the closing of the home. A lot is also donated, with Land Tejas’ Sunterra homesite its 19th lot donation. The homes are sold at market value and proceeds benefit two local charities — Operation Finally Home and the Benefit Homes Project. This 42-year-old charity has raised more than $12 million.
Land Tejas’s Sunterra is a 1,039acre master-planned community in the Katy Independent School District and convenient to Katy-area dining and shopping. There is also access to Grand Parkway and I-10 west.
Amenities will include a 3.5-acre Crystal Lagoon for kayaking, swimming, stand-up paddleboarding, or just relaxing on the white sandy beach. There will also be an expansive amenity village that will feature a clubhouse and pool that overlook the lagoon.
HistoryMaker elected to build its Hemlock plan as its Benefit home because it’s an open-concept design and is ideal for growing households. It is a 2,777 sq. ft. two-story plan with three bedrooms and 2½ baths. It offers a media room and game room on the second floor, and a downstairs master suite with walk-in closet, a dual vanity, and a separate tub and shower. The home also includes a covered patio and large garage.
“Sunterra is the perfect backdrop to our numerous plans we offer in this new community,” said HistoryMaker Houston division president Mickey Pizzitola. “We are honored that Land Tejas, the community developer was generous enough to donate a lot in an area of Katy that is growing quickly.”
Throughout the 42-year history of the Project, more than 110 homes have been built with the help of donations.
