Leah Rae Rhodes Malloy passed away quietly in hospice care in Sugarland, Texas on August 25, 2022. Leah was born in Houston, Texas on October 13, 1928 to Clyde Rhodes and Greta Ferguson. She was the offspring of an East Texas pioneering family of teachers and law enforcement officers, and a middle Tennessee family of masons, carpenters, and farmers. The resulting personality was one of stoicism and pride with a flair for artistry. She spent her early life in Houston and a brief period in Franklin, Tennessee where the Ferguson clan originated. Back to the Gulf coast in her early adolescence with time in Galveston and then back to Houston to graduate from Lamar High School. She spent a year at North Texas State Women’s College in Denton, Tx and returned to Houston to jobs at Tennessee Gas Transmission and then became a teller at Bellaire State Bank where she met her first husband at perhaps a too early age. After the birth of her first child and the end of a stormy relationship, she had the good fortune of meeting her partner for life, Michael C. Malloy (Papa). With her support she brought this one time transportation

engineer, into the world of the pipeline business and

eventually to ownership of their own business acquired

from her stepfather, Marshall J. Brown. She was a gracious and welcoming entertainer of hosts of petroleum industry related customers. She was ambitious and strove to further her husband’s career and the fortune of her family. At home she worked hard to provide an environment of safety and comfort for her 4 children. She enjoyed water skiing and travelled far and wide to Texas Hill Country lakes and Gulf Coast waterways to ski. Although not much of a joiner, she had a cadre of close friends that she maintained for life. She was a beautiful woman and maintained her beauty until the end.

Leah is survived by her four children: Michael H. Malloy, M.D.; Timothy C. Malloy, and wife Laura; Patrick L. Malloy, and wife Leslie; and Nancy LaFLeur, and husband George; grandchildren: Elizabeth Malloy, Chris Malloy, Clinton Malloy, Allison Brooks, Scott Malloy, Stephanie Mckeever, Travis Bauer, and Luke Bauer; and great grandchildren: Foster Malloy, Collins Malloy, Caroline

Rose Malloy, Adeline Brooks, Clara Brooks, Blake Malloy, Brayden Malloy, MacKenzie Malloy, and Walker McKeever.

The family is deeply grateful for the devotion of her caregivers: Melissa Saenz, Dora King, and Tapenga Saenz.

A memorial service was held at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Fwy (Hwy 10), Houston, Texas 77079, at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, September 6th, 2022.

May her soul and the souls of all the departed , through the mercy of God, Rest In Peace.
