BETTY MCNAMEE CASON MCINTOSH

Betty McNamee Cason McIntosh, age 90, was born on the 28th day of October, in Corpus Christi, Texas.
She passed away the 17th of September, 2022 in Houston, Texas.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents Peter and Alyne McNamee and her son James Peter Cason.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 35 years, Robert E. “Bob” McIntosh and Betty’s only daughter, Becca Cason Thrash. She is also survived by her sister Kelly Wanda McNamee and her son, Kyle Marburger and daughter, Meliss Marburger.
Survivors also include Bob’s sons Lee McIntosh and wife Amanda; Robert McIntosh and wife Janet; Bob’s grandsons Hunter and Drake McIntosh, and granddaughters, Marie McIntosh and Katy and Ryan Hart. John F. Thrash, Betty’s cherished son-in-law and his daughter, Meghan Thrash, also survive her.
Betty’s family moved to Harlingen, Texas in 1935 where her father was the managing director and distributor for Pearl Beer. Betty went to James Bowie elementary; Travis Jr High and graduated from Harlingen High School where she was a cheerleader and head cheerleader her senior year. She was also the football sweetheart. After high school she attended A & I University in Kingsville, Texas.
In 1951, she married James “Jim” Cason, who was an All American professional football player and subsequently a television sportscaster. Betty gave birth to their first child, Becca Jean, in 1952 and their son, Pete, in 1956.
Betty was extremely close to her parents throughout her life and quite active in the community. She starred in several plays and theatrical productions and hosted countless events for the celebrated Life Begins at 40 Golf Tournament held annually at the Harlingen Country Club.
After Betty and Jim decided to part ways she took a home on South Padre Island.
There she began her career in interior design. She met her Bob, a native of Weslaco, Texas while designing his house. Bob was co-owner of McManus Produce Co. until his retirement. They began a whirlwind courtship and married in Harlingen in 1987 surrounded by their family and countless friends. They lived in Harlingen throughout their marriage.
They often traveled to Colorado, Alaska and the upper East coast in their prized motor home; decorated by Betty, of course. They often shared memories of these great excursions with friends and family. They were longtime members of Harlingen Country Club where they both played golf. Bob is an avid hunter and fisherman, and Betty was enthusiastic to grill the catch of the day be it birds, deer or a salmon that Bob had reeled in. They also loved to drive to the Mexican border town of Progresso for lunches or dinners; often accompanied by their close “Valley chums” or family.
Betty was a much loved and greatly admired wife, mother, sister and aunt. She was deeply spiritual and believed one did not need to go to church to accept God into their lives. She prayed every day and cherished her time on this earth,
“My mother was the single most selfless person I have ever known; she always put others before herself. She had a capacity for love and affection above all others”.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of Baylor St Luke’s for their care and kindness while she was there. The family also extends profound appreciation to Tripp Carter of BradshawCarter funeral home and crematorium.
In lieu of a funeral, there will be a private family service to be held at a yet to be determined date and time.
