07/03/1928 - 09/09/2022

Louis Perry “Elvis” Richard, age 94, of Conroe, Texas passed away peacefully at home on September 9, 2022. Known as “PawPaw” to all that loved him, Elvis was born July 3, 1928, in Tulsa, Oklahoma yet lived most of his adult life in Houston, Texas.

Elvis enlisted in the US Marine Corps at the age of 17 and was deployed to China in order to serve his country during World War II. He then worked for Southwestern Bell, retiring in 1987 after 38 years.

Elvis was a faithful husband and father who worked tirelessly to provide for his family. He faced every challenge in life with admirable strength and courage. He was an accomplished, self-made man of many abilities and skills. He selflessly used these talents to help his family, friends, neighbors, co-workers and even strangers in need.

Elvis loved the outdoors and spent much of his time with those he loved. If he wasn’t boating, fishing, or vacationing with family in his motor home, he could often be found in his garage building and repairing things. One of his favorite pastimes was serving others while delivering Meals on Wheels.

He is survived by his son and caregiver, Mark Richard and daughter-in-law, Tracy Richard; daughter, Ty Ann (Richard) Noyes and her husband, Thomas Noyes; two grandchildren, Beau Richard and his wife Laura Richard; Jennifer Major and her husband, Matthew Major; four great grandchildren, Hunter and Cole Richard and Brody and Wyatt Major; and sister, Betty Ann Young.

Elvis was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Joy Marie (Hershberger) Richard; son, Elvis Tyrone Richard; granddaughter, Deanna Richard; and sister, Mary Isabell Horstketter.

The family is incredibly grateful for the compassion and support Elvis received by his close friend Connie Tanner as well as his caregivers, Dora Mayorga and LaToya Porter.
