Homeaid, Chesmar partner on charity project in Fort Bend
HomeAid Houston and Chesmar Homes recently broke ground on two 1,000 sq. ft. duplexes for Abigail’s Place that will provide transitional living for mothers and their children in crisis situations.
Abigail’s Place is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization serving displaced single mothers and their families in Fort Bend County by providing emergency housing support. Their mission is to empower displaced single mothers and their children who are facing circumstantial homelessness by providing transitional housing, resources, and advocacy. These circumstances can include the loss of a job, an illness, losing a family member who was the breadwinner, or fleeing domestic violence.
Abigail’s Place will also be working with Attack Poverty, an agency that works to empower people to attack poverty in their life and community by strengthening under-resourced communities through spiritual growth, education, revitalization and basic needs.
Attack Poverty sold land to Abigail’s Place for the new construction and will assist in providing resources for the new families.
Chesmar Homes Division President, Jeff Johnson is leading construction on the project which will begin once the permitting is in place. “Teaming with Chesmar on this valuable addition to Abigail’s Place is a huge blessing for both the charities, the families it will serve and HomeAid Houston,” said HomeAid president, Nicole Jacob. “Chesmar’s commitment to giving back to the community reflects their generosity and the values they embrace within the organization. We were honored to break ground with them, and with so many others who understand the challenges many face on a daily basis.”
Chesmar builds in the Greater Houston area, Austin, Central Texas, Dallas/Fort. Worth and San Antonio. Visit www.chesmar.com for more information.
