GHBA project to celebrate completion of 2 homes

-

The Greater Houston Builders Association Benefit Homes Project is in a unique position this year as two builders committed to constructing a Benefit home within weeks of each other. Taylor Morrison and HistoryMaker Homes are nearing completion on their homes.

“We are so excited to have such great support from our GHBA members for this program,” said Scott Merovitch, chairman of the Benefit Homes Project and Chesmar Homes city president for Houston. “We can’t thank enough both Todd Rasmussen and Bill Dalton with Taylor Morrison and Mickey Pizzitola with HistoryMaker Homes, for stepping up to volunteer their expertise and their vendors and suppliers that are critical to making this fundraiser a success.”

This 42-year-old fundraiser recruits two builders a year to build a home with donated materials and services from GHBA member companies. The homes are typically built with amenities and features not always found in homes with similar pricing, and then are sold at market value. The more donations provided, the less the home costs to build and the more money will be raised. The beneficiaries of the sale, are two local charities, Operation Finally Home and HomeAid Houston.

Taylor Morrison is building their Dahlia plan in their community of Grand Vista. It is a 1,532 sq. ft., one-story home with three bedrooms, two baths and a two-car garage. The elegant design offers optimal living space for growing families.

An extended formal foyer flows into an open-concept gathering room and kitchen that is perfect for gatherings or entertaining. There is also a formal dining room that is the ideal setting for intimate dinners or large celebrations. The private owner’s suite is at the back of the home, offering a beautiful retreat with its wall of windows that capture the light. There are two closets that provide plenty of storage for separate wardrobes, a double door entry to the owner’s bath, a vanity with dual sinks and a separate walk-in shower.

HistoryMaker is building its popular Hemlock plan in Sunterra. Land Tejas donated the homesite. The Hemlock is a 2,777 sq. ft., two-story design with three bedrooms and 2½ baths. The home offers a media room and game room on the second floor, a downstairs master suite with spacious walk-in closet, a dual vanity and a separate tub and shower. The floor plan is an open concept for easy entertaining and gatherings, and the tall ceilings and box windows add to the spacious feeling. The home also includes a covered patio and large garage.
