Crash pushes up a rising death toll of pedestrians

A pedestrian was hit and killed late Friday by a driver in the Memorial area, police said.

The crash happened around 10:30 p.m. in the 800 block of North Wilcrest. Police have released few details, and it’s unclear whether they have identified a suspect.

The incident follows a weekend that saw four pedestrians killed by drivers, which at the time brought the year’s total of such deaths to 74.
