Man gets 18 years in prison for death of his stepfather

A Bexar County jury has sentenced a man to 18 years in prison for killing his stepfather.

Jarren Diego Garcia shot Mark Ramos six times as they fought in a house March 5, 2021.

Garcia, who was 19 at the time, had intervened in a fight between Ramos and his mother, Bertha Garcia. Jarren Garcia testified that he used the 9 mm handgun to protect himself, his mother and little brother.
