Five arrested after chase, attempt to rob pharmacy

-

Five people were arrested, including possibly four juveniles, after leading police on a brief pursuit early Saturday following an attempted smash-and-grab at a CVS Pharmacy in north Houston, police said.

The suspects, who were allegedly driving a stolen vehicle, also had tried to steal from an ATM earlier in the night, according to police.

Police were first called around 3:30 a.m. to the attempted ATM theft at a bank in the 7600 block of North Shepherd.

Officers got a description of the vehicle and about 30 minutes later were called to the CVS at Irvington and Cavalcade, where a vehicle matching the description had just rammed into the entrance, police said.

Police eventually found the vehicle, a Chevrolet pickup, in the area and tried to pull over the driver. A brief chase ensued. Officers were able to stop the driver, police said.

It’s unclear whether the suspects took any merchandise.
