First major lawsuit filed over Uvalde massacre
The first major lawsuit has been filed over the mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde by the families of three surviving students.
Defendants in the federal lawsuit include the Uvalde CISD; the city of Uvalde; former school district Police Chief Pedro “Pete” Arredondo; suspended Uvalde Police Lt. Mariano Pargas; and then-Robb Principal Mandy Gutierrez. The families also are suing a gun manufacturer; a Uvalde gun shop; a lock manufacturer; and Motorola Solutions. The 81-page lawsuit accuses most defendants of negligence, inaction or defective products or systems that enabled Salvador Ramos to kill 19 students and two teachers.
