Houston helps as Ian lashes Florida

-

As Hurricane Ian lashed the Gulf Coast, dozens of Texans headed east. On Wednesday, members of Texas disaster relief nonprofits and businesses said they were either on their way or already on the ground in Florida after the storm struck Florida with greater force than nearly any in recent memory, approaching Category 5 status as it barreled down on the state’s western coastline. Ian is estimated to be one of the most powerful storms in U.S. history, causing massive flooding and more than 2 million Florida residents to lose power. The storm could cost $65 billion in damage.
