08/24/1937 - 09/25/2022

-

Jimmie Faye Nadeau McCarthy, nee Dale, born in Wink, Texas on August 24, 1937, passed away peacefully in Spring, Texas on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at the age of 85. Born to Jo Frances Dale, nee Audas, and William Hardy Dale, and predeceased by both of her parents and her sister, Carol Ann Dale Hurley Faulkner. She is survived by her brother, Thomas Hardy Dale, and his wife Mary Louise Dale. Jimmie graduated high school in Monahans, Texas, and attended nursing school in Lubbock, Texas, meeting life-long friends in both places. She married Richard Dennis Nadeau in 1958 and they adopted Dennis Dale Nadeau in 1961 while living in New York and Denise Carol Ann Nadeau in 1967 while living in Georgia. Jimmie often said, to any and all who would listen, that “the greatest days of her life were the days she got Dale and Denise”. After divorcing in 1973, she moved to Texas City, Texas, where she completed her BSN while working full time and raising two children. She moved to Houston in 1976, working for Dr. Jess Bryant and forging another group of treasured friends. Jimmie met John “Jack” Francis McCarthy while working for Dr. Bryant and they were married in 1982, enlarging her family with Jack’s children, Kathryn Davis, John McCarthy and wife, Kathryn McCarthy, Kevin McCarthy and grandchildren Jessica Daugherty, Sean McCarthy, Kevin McCarthy, and David McCarthy and their husbands, wives, and children. Throughout her life, Jimmie never met a stranger. She had a talent for making people feel that they truly mattered in this world. A life lived with love and compassion yielded a trove of friends and a wealth of memories. Whether it was cruising the Rhine River with her children or sitting on the couch by herself with a good book (which she would later give a report on to her book club), Jimmie always had an inner peace and dignity that continued to attract good things, and good people, into her life. She was a loving, caring soul with a bright, sincere smile, a knowing twinkle in her eye, and a kind word for all. We are all poorer now that she has left this physical world but those she touched will be forever changed for the better and she now lives with the other angels in heaven. Funeral services will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at 11 am with interment at Houston National Cemetery at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to the following charity of your choice: American Heart Association, Red Cross, Alzheimer’s Association or the SPCA. God Speed, Jimmie Dale.
