John McCague, 67, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2022 with his wife Ann at his side.

He was born on August

11, 1955 in Tarrytown, New York, to John and Florence McCague. He spent an idyllic childhood on Jo Drive in Peekskill New York surrounded by wonderful friends. He went on to receive his undergradu­ate degree in Geology from SUNY Oneonta in 1977 and his master’s degree in Geophysics from Boston College in 1980.

He began his career in oil exploratio­n at Chevron in Houston in 1980. He was transferre­d to Colorado in 1982. He then moved to Golden Geophysica­l. He was transferre­d back to Houston in 1992 ending his career at FairfieldN­odal (formerly Golden Geophysica­l).

John and Ann were married in 1991 and shared a wonderful life filled with music, books, art, and a love of cats. They had many happy years together.

John was a sports enthusiast and loved spending hours on the phone with his brother discussing their beloved New York Mets. He enjoyed listening to music and researchin­g artists and genres. He had a great gift of gab and loved engaging in thoughtful conversati­ons. He had terrific friends and enjoyed sharing stories and laughs over a few “brewskies”.

He was a cherished husband, brother, uncle, and friend and will be sorely missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Kate Ramming. He is survived by his wife, Ann; sisters, Peggy Gorton and husband Bob, Nancy Humphrey and husband Greg; brother, Kevin and wife Sharon; nieces, Jessica Gorton and Julie Simet; nephews, Chris Gorton and Ryan McCague.

In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation to the charity of your choice.

A private celebratio­n of life will be held at a future date.
