Michele Alexander, a Realtor with Martha Turner Sotheby’s International Realty, with five years of industry experience, recently shared these thoughts.
Q: What are you neighborhood/areas of focus?
A: I live in the Heights and love my neighborhood, but more importantly, I will work wherever my clients need me to.
Q: Why did you decide on a career in real estate and what are some things you enjoy about it?
A: I have spent my entire adult life in sales and service, selling everything from cell phones to sweaters, but my passion was always real estate. I love architecture and design, but what I love most is helping people. It is incredibly gratifying to work with clients and see the joy their home brings them.
Q: How would you describe your work ethic and skills that bring you success?
A: I have a crazy-strong work ethic and am very fortunate to be at a stage in life where I can be available when my clients need me to be. I pride myself in working collaboratively with all parties of the transaction and communicating effectively through the appropriate channels.
Q: What are some key ways you help your clients in the buying/selling process?
A: I am a good listener and ask a lot of questions. Understanding their goals is critical and having the patience to help them through the process is paramount! It is a process that can’t be rushed.
Q: How is the marketplace
now and is it a good time to buy?
A: We are seeing varying degrees of normalization, based on the neighborhood. Houston continues to outrank many other major cities for housing affordability and employment opportunities, which continues to drive home value appreciation. Interest rates are still very good, but buyers have to be savvy or have a savvy agent to help find the best options.
Q: What is your education/ experience?
A: I have held director and vice president positions in luxury retail businesses, responsible for as much as $250 million in volume, leading high-performing teams across the US. I’ve personally bought and sold nine residential properties, custombuilding three of them. I held as many as five homes at one time, with three of them as investment properties. I am a member of NAR, TAR and HAR.
Q: What are some industry or company awards/honors?
A: I have been recognized as a Top 25 Performer and have been a Martha Turner Sotheby’s Circle of Excellence member for the past four years.
Q: How does the company support your sales process?:
A: We have great leadership! Always accessible and constantly asking for feedback for improvement, they move things to action, always placing our needs first. Our army of support teams is equally as good. Did I mention how much fun they all are to be with!?
