Dayton ends playoff drought

Senior quarterback Carson Horton threw for 266 yards and four touchdowns during a 35-24 victory against Texas City that clinched Dayton’s first playoff berth in seven years.

The Broncos’ usually strong running game produced only 78 yards, but they won on the strength of Horton’s performance, three takeaways to zero turnovers, and solid special teams play by kicker Brayan Montes, who hit 38- and 41-yard field goals.
