Jan Greer, Greenwood King Properties Realtor, recently shared these thoughts:

Q: What are your neighborho­od/areas of focus?

A: I focus on all the familiar neighborho­ods and their surroundin­g areas. If a buyer or seller is interested in the suburbs, I am there as well. Some friends were interested in a new canal community in Texas City for a second home so off we went and explored it together.

Q: Why did you decide on a career in real estate and what are some things you enjoy about it?

A: I jumped into real estate when my children left home for school. I had a longtime interest in how people personaliz­ed their homes to accommodat­e their lifestyles. Working with friends and new acquaintan­ces who became friends has been very gratifying.

Q: How would you describe your work ethic and skills that bring you success?

A: Paying attention to detail and flexibilit­y are key. I try to be available at all times as selling real estate is not a 9-5, Monday-through-Friday endeavor. My goal is to ensure that the buying and selling process is as streamline­d and stress free as possible.

Q: What are some ways you help your clients in the buying/selling process?

A: Very important is keeping up with the legal aspects of every transactio­n to protect and guide clients through deadlines and important details. On a basic level, I am always happy to do some legwork or meet a contractor for busy buyers and sellers.

Q: How is the marketplac­e now and is it a good time to buy?

A: Yes, the market seems to be reaching normality and inventory is increasing. Even with the slight increase in interest rates, which are still historical­ly low, there are loan programs which are advantageo­us.

Q: How many years have you been in the real estate industry?

A: I have been a licensed Realtor for over 30 years. It has been especially gratifying to work with clients in multiple transactio­ns over the years — buying their first homes and then helping them move again and again as lifestyles and needs develop.

Q: What is your education and training background?

A: I have a BA in French with a minor in sociology from Hollins University and worked in sales for Pan American Airways in New York and Atlanta.

Q: What are your industry or company awards/honors and certificat­ions?

A: My certificat­ions include the Graduate Realtor Institute (GRI), Five Star Real Estate Agent, Certified Luxury Home Marketing Specialist (CLHMS), Master Certified Negotiatio­n Expert (MCNE), Accredited Staging Profession­al (ASP), as well as being recognized as a Top Producer.

Q: How does your company support your sales process?
