Jan Greer, Greenwood King Properties Realtor, recently shared these thoughts:
Q: What are your neighborhood/areas of focus?
A: I focus on all the familiar neighborhoods and their surrounding areas. If a buyer or seller is interested in the suburbs, I am there as well. Some friends were interested in a new canal community in Texas City for a second home so off we went and explored it together.
Q: Why did you decide on a career in real estate and what are some things you enjoy about it?
A: I jumped into real estate when my children left home for school. I had a longtime interest in how people personalized their homes to accommodate their lifestyles. Working with friends and new acquaintances who became friends has been very gratifying.
Q: How would you describe your work ethic and skills that bring you success?
A: Paying attention to detail and flexibility are key. I try to be available at all times as selling real estate is not a 9-5, Monday-through-Friday endeavor. My goal is to ensure that the buying and selling process is as streamlined and stress free as possible.
Q: What are some ways you help your clients in the buying/selling process?
A: Very important is keeping up with the legal aspects of every transaction to protect and guide clients through deadlines and important details. On a basic level, I am always happy to do some legwork or meet a contractor for busy buyers and sellers.
Q: How is the marketplace now and is it a good time to buy?
A: Yes, the market seems to be reaching normality and inventory is increasing. Even with the slight increase in interest rates, which are still historically low, there are loan programs which are advantageous.
Q: How many years have you been in the real estate industry?
A: I have been a licensed Realtor for over 30 years. It has been especially gratifying to work with clients in multiple transactions over the years — buying their first homes and then helping them move again and again as lifestyles and needs develop.
Q: What is your education and training background?
A: I have a BA in French with a minor in sociology from Hollins University and worked in sales for Pan American Airways in New York and Atlanta.
Q: What are your industry or company awards/honors and certifications?
A: My certifications include the Graduate Realtor Institute (GRI), Five Star Real Estate Agent, Certified Luxury Home Marketing Specialist (CLHMS), Master Certified Negotiation Expert (MCNE), Accredited Staging Professional (ASP), as well as being recognized as a Top Producer.
