Officials: Driver was drunk, hit patrol vehicle

-

A Harris County deputy’s patrol vehicle was hit by a speeding, allegedly drunken driver Friday night on the Tomball Parkway, officials said.

The driver was going over 100 mph when he rear-ended a Harris County deputy’s patrol vehicle, authorities said.

Officers said a white Mercedes sedan was speeding down Tomball Parkway a little after 11 p.m. when he struck the deputy’s patrol car, according to onscene.tv.

The deputy was not responding to a call, so he did not have his lights or siren on at the time, deputies said.

He was taken to the hospital, said Sgt. B. Bondurant with the Harris County Sheriff ’s Office.

Bondurant confirmed that the driver was a 45-year-old Hispanic man who was allegedly drunk and speeding on the parkway. He will face charges, officials said.
